Residence and family
Residence, family reunion and identity documents
This page separates general residence authorisation, special stay permits for family members of Macao residents, and Macao Resident Identity Card services so that distinct legal routes are not confused.
- Residence authorisation:The 'other persons' page provides entries for applications, family details, case-specific documents, booking and progress enquiries.
- Family reunion:The special stay permit for family members of Macao residents is a separate public service with application, renewal, update and cancellation entries.
- Identity documents:After a residence authorisation is granted, check the Identification Services Bureau's official resident identity card service.

General residence and family reunion: separate the routes first
This original reading guide turns public service information into a preparation order, so you can identify the relevant service before opening forms. It is not an eligibility decision and does not replace the authority's decision on an individual case.
- 01
Identify the service first
Residence authorisation for 'other persons' and the special stay permit for family members of Macao residents are not the same procedure. The first concerns a residence application; the latter is a separate family-member service.
- 02
Organise preparation in three groups
Start with identity and travel documents, materials supporting the reason for application or family relationship, and address, financial or other case-specific evidence. Match each item with the current official list before submission.
- 03
Check formality and arrangements before submission
Confirm the applicable form, whether originals must be available for comparison, whether booking is needed, and how to retain the receipt and check progress. Do not substitute another person's document list for the current official requirements.
- 04
Treat follow-up as a separate stage
After an authority's notice, follow the stated arrangements for additional documents, payment, collection or identity documents. Where relevant, check the separate resident identity card service with the appropriate authority.
